Director of Engineering

KingsIsle Entertainment is currently looking for a Director of Engineering to guide the engineering group responsible for the development of game software. Established in 2005, KingsIsle is a proven MMO hit-maker and is also bringing our unique vision to mobile games. Our award-winning game Wizard101 is currently in its 12th year, and we recently released our latest mobile game "Animal Cove" for iOS and Android.

  • Participate in the development of multiple mobile titles across multiple genres
  • Participate in the development of Wizard101 and Pirate101
  • Make high-level engineering decisions regarding technical direction for game development
  • Mentor and coach engineering leads to improve management skills
  • Remain informed of vendor (Apple/Google) and platform (iOS/Android) requirements and updates
  • Provide guidance and direction of shared technologies used across multiple titles
  • Collaborate with management and with multiple departments regarding engineering task priorities
  • Provide the ongoing training and development of all engineering staff
  • Ensure proper staffing based on team needs
  • Set engineering department budgets and goals for short and long term timeframes
  • Plan for and analyze engineering/technology needs for future years
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 10 years full lifecycle software development experience
  • 5 years of experience leading game development teams, including multi-platform development
  • Experience developing highly available, scalable, low latency systems
  • Unity experience
  • C# and C++ experience
  • Mobile game development experience
  • MMO game development experience
  • Demonstrated experience interacting with multi-discipline teams
  • Cloud infrastructure experience
  • Distributed systems experience
