Art Lead

POSITION SUMMARY: 
KingsIsle Entertainment is seeking an Art Lead who will oversee the artistic departments (e.g. Characters, Environments, Animation and FX) for our MMOs. You will work hand in hand with the Art Director and creative staff to come up with visions and ideas for the theme and look of various assets in the game.  On top of the creative responsibilities you will also be required to collaborate and communicate with production staff and other departments in order to make sure that things come in on time and within budget. The perfect candidate should also be experienced personnel management and know how to lead by example, inspiring those around you to excel at their given discipline.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Deal with the technical aspects of art production. This includes art processes, poly budgets, texture budgets, task definitions, and art task schedule costs.
  • Work with Art Director, creative team and concept art department to come up with ideas and visions for various game assets (characters, environments, animation, and fx).
  • Adhere to established organizational systems and enter details and reference into Jira tickets so that task goals and requirements are clear for all personnel involved in the art pipeline.
  • Work closely with production to make sure artists stay on track and deliver work in a timely fashion.
  • Manage not only in house artists but also external groups such as artists borrowed from other teams within gamigo and outsource groups
  • Be a gateway between other departments and your artists to curb feature creep as well as other causes of counter-productivity.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years of games industry experience as a Senior Artist or Art Lead (MMO preferred)
  • Extensive working knowledge of Photoshop, 3DSMax (2013)
  • General knowledge of all artistic aspects of game creation including environment art, character art, animation, and fx.
  • Strong artistic principals,
  • Experience with .DDS files and the Gambryo game engine are a plus.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask requirements and feedback gathering across disciplines, assess risk, define priorities, and resolve problems while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent creative, critical and analytical skills, as well as a high attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to self-organize.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to foster a positive, dynamic and collaborative team environment.
  • Past leadership and conflict resolution training a plus.

  • Demonstrates characteristics to work respectfully and effectively with all levels of employees within the Art Team as well as with other departments to achieve mutual goals
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and positive under pressure and meet tight deadlines at all times.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, accuracy, use good artistic judgment, prioritization skills and be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • High degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
